I grew up under the guidance of my grandmother after my mum passed on while I was only five years old. My grandmother used to take us (me & my younger sister) to Anglican Church which is about 4km from the village we stayed.
That is how I was introduced to the ministry of Jesus Christ. Then it was a tradition to go to Church and to most its time to meet others, show off clothes and for children at least you have an opportunity to get some sweets and probably a bun also as an incentive for us to come back the following week.
We would only go to church once or twice a month due to the long walk to church and my grandmother’s age. For my secondary education I moved to town and we continued with Anglican Church as my father was also a follower there.
At one time the Gideon’s bible was distributed at our school and I used to read once in a while. When I started working I never went to church and my hobby was beer drinking.
The next time I went to Church again is when we were preparing for our wedding. We had our wedding at Anglican Church in 1998 and never went to church again.
I moved to Johannesburg in year 2006 and was staying with my cousin. We continued with our beer drinking when ever we had the chance and money.
His wife attends Christ Embassy Kensington and she used to invite me to church but had no interest. I did no have a permanent job then so at times I will be at home alone.
She brought Pastor Chris DVDs and I began to watch. I would also read the Rhapsody of Realities.
It was after watching Pastor's DVDs that I began to understand the ministry of Jesus Christ and my faith began to rise. I prayed the prayer for salvation at the end one DVD in June 2007.
I started going to Church then. My perception of Church suddenly changed and my interest for beer suddenly melted.
My cousin and other friends could not understand how a person they used to drink with almost daily had dramatically changed. Even my wife and people back home thought it’s a joke and would go back to my old ways.
It was when I joined the membership school when the Pastor called for those who could not speak in other tongues. She explained to us the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
When she laid her hands on me I fell under the anointing and began to speak in other tongues. I had gone for a job interview in May before I got born again and they had said I was unsuccessful.
In July while I was on my usual temporary jobs I received a call from the company that had turned me down saying they had a permanent job for me. The following year I got a bond for the flat we are currently staying.
Most in my category were having regrets on their bond applications. It was miracle after miracle and I now live a miracle life.
I thank God for the calling and choosing me. My wife, my brothers, my sisters, cousins and many more friends and relatives are now born again as a result of my salvation.
Its only now while I am writing that I realize how my salvation has influenced and changed those around me. Thank you Jesus, thank you Pastor Chris.
